CETEM announces the 22nd International Furniture Design Contest

The International Furniture Design Contest arises to favor innovation in the habitat and rewards projects that are at the same time technically possible and economically viable.

The Technological Center of Furniture and Wood of the Region of Murcia (CETEM) encourages national and international companies and designers to participate in the 22nd International Furniture Design Competition.

The main goal of this contest is to promote industrial designers and furniture companies coming together and the culture of industrial design in the furniture sector, as well as to demonstrate the importance of design in the innovation process and its considerable contribution to industrial success.

In the contest you can participate within two different topics:

2: Innovation in sleep furniture
Design of a foldable mattress or canapé or set of both, which brings new aesthetic and / or functional proposals, as well as the use of innovative materials.

These designs should contemplate trends such as connectivity, mobility, ecology, health improvement, population, aging, globalization, product customization, or new generations, among others.

The projects will be evaluated in two phases.

First stage
In the first phase all the submitted projects will be evaluated by a committee of experts that will determine which of them are finalists and go to the next phase, in which the corresponding prototype is manufactured.

Second stage
In the second phase, the prototypes of the finalist projects selected in the previous phase are built, within the deadlines established in these bases. They must be presented at CETEM’s facilities, properly packed, indicating only the name of the project, without any identifying data of the contestant.

In this second phase, the jury will select: for TOPIC 1 a maximum of 10 finalist projects from which the three winners will be chosen.
