The Technological Centre of Furniture and Wood of the Region of Murcia and the City Council of Yecla have announced the Olympics Design School, which this year celebrates its 11th edition. Over 400 children took part in the edition of 2014, and about 3,500 have participated in total in the set of all editions.

The main objective of the contest is to promote interest in technology among youngers and spread the culture of design and innovation. To do this, students must design a type of furniture that incorporates new ideas on the use, materials and functions taking into account the commercial viability of the product.

This contest is a way to get students to discover that the creation and design of any product is a job that involves a lot of effort and a balanced harmony between creativity, innovation, manufacturability and functionality of everything that is designed.

The competition, as in previous editions, has two categories (1st and 2nd and 3rd and 4th of ESO), and the deadline will end on Friday May 29, 2015. The competition guidelines will be available on the website of CETEM. There will be three prizes for each category, consisting of a laptop, a tablet and a camera.
The jury will be composed of a representative of the City Council of Yecla, the Director of CETEM, a professor or designer and entrepreneur, and the awards ceremony will be held in June.
