NANOMAD Project (Completed)
The project studies the influence of the internal incorporation of metalic nanoparticles and nanoclays in the properties of natural wood veneers and wood-based panels, with particular attention to their behavior in fire.
Expected Results:
• To determine if internal treatment with nanotechnology can be an alternative to current treatments for the fireproofing of wood.
• To determine the influence of the incorporation of nanotechnology on the properties of natural wood veneers and wood-based panels
• Detect improvements produced by treatment with nanotechnology.
• Determine the influence of treatment with nanotechnology in fire behavior.
• Understand the effects of treatment with nanotechnology in the behavior towards finishing and gluing processes.
Main activities:
• Analyze the effectiveness of this treatment on wood-based panels and natural wood veneers to improve their fire behavior.
• Establish the effects of the treatment on the properties of the materials.
